Please give a warm welcome to the newest member of our family – Lily.
We’ve been petless for a couple of years, and I had enjoyed the lack of animal hair and assorted bodily fluids around the house. But we all love animals, and Boo has been wanting a pet, and when we saw a declawed (won’t shred the furniture!) black (won’t leave white hair to show up on black clothes!) cat (doesn’t need to be let outside to pee!) in the list of animals available from Animal Control, something clicked.
Lily and I had only been home for a few minutes when J and Boo got home last night. She was a little frightened and ran halfway down the hall, where Boo (who was in the dark about the Great Cat Acquirement) caught a glimpse and joyously said “Is that a new pet???” Lily then immediately ran into Boo’s room and under her bed. Not until this point did I think “we don’t know anything about this cat… maybe her previous owners dumped her because she hates kids!” But in less than a minute, Boo and Lily were best friends. Boo is head over heels in love, and Lily seems to revel in the attention. She is a very sweet and affectionate cat.
When I brought her home, I tried to get a picture of her, but she was so busy exploring the house that she wouldn’t hold still long enough, so most of my pictures look like this...
It's nice to have a critter in the house again. But Lily, I’m warning you… that 4:00 a.m. trying-to-sleep-on-my-head thing had better not become a habit.
