Bad thing number one... J is gone to his mama's for the rest of the week. I miss him.
Bad thing number two... the Dish Network digital video recorder, that wondrous thing, is freaking out. It spent a couple of days pausing and skipping erratically, and now? It says everything we have recorded is gone. Now this means that not only do I miss the second half of Six Feet Under that I didn't finish watching, but at some point I'm going to have to tell Boo that all of her "recordeds" are gone. Dozens of hours of anime and faux anime (why does the child love anything that looks Japanese?), gone. And Hamtaro isn't even on the air any more. This is going to be bad. (Oh, and why do I let my child record and watch dozens of hours of Shinzo and Digimon and Totally Spies? Because I'm a bad mom. Did you miss that?)
Bad thing number three is really more annoying than bad. The city is tearing up our one major east-west road (well, we do have another one, but it's closed due to construction for a couple of years! who knew they could even do that?), and over the last couple of days they completely scraped the surface for several blocks. It was a little dicey at 7:00 this morning because there were no lines to tell you what lane you're in, but people managed. But sometime before 4:00 they managed to paint one yellow line right down the middle of the road. I don't know if you can see it in this picture, but the yellow line goes right under the left turn signal. That's right; they did away with the turning lanes. I'm glad I wasn't there at 5:00... it must have been rather unpleasant.
Oh, and while I'm whining... I stubbed my little toe last week and it still hurts a little bit. Damn it all to hell.
